Introduction to Climate Information Services for Agriculture is a response to a need, identified by RUFORUM, for university undergraduate introductory curriculum content to strengthen CIS awareness, knowledge and competencies of future agricultural professionals.  Its six sessions cover:

  • The “what” and “why” of CIS for agriculture;
  • Impacts of climate risk on agriculture;
  • Agricultural decision making in a variable climate;
  • Applications of CIS for agriculture;
  • Communicating climate information with farming communities; and
  • Social justice issues in CIS.

This Reference Guide supports and complements online resources that include session presentation files and assessment questions. Introduction to Climate Information Services for Agriculture was developed by the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI), Columbia University in partnership with RUFORUM, as part of the Accelerating the Impact of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (AICCRA) project.
